It has been reported that the term “lesbian” was searched the most last year on the website Pornhub.

And yet, as of the writing of this post, “lesbian” as a topic to follow on Medium only has 469 followers.

The topic “LGBTQ,” however, has 337,000 followers on Medium.

Does this mean that people who watch porn need to be specific in their termonolgy when searching for that video to get them off? Or are readers of erotica able to enjoy a wider variety of sexual relationships?

Or is it both?
Perhaps it is neither.

If only we writers could find a large pool of readers based upon more specific terminology, we could forge a path to consistent readership.

When Pornhub broke down the top searches in the United States by state, the results varied wildly:

Does your go-to term search match your home state? Your current state?

Why does this matter to me?
I write erotica on this platform, and I would like to know what the readers enjoy.
